Manchester United is in a new war with Wayne Rooney!

The striker is in danger of becoming an outcast at Old Trafford after telling new boss David Moyes he wants to join Chelsea.

Now Rooney fears the stand-off will ruin his chances of playing in next week's international friendly against Scotland. United are refusing to sell Rooney to Chelsea and have rejected two bids from their Premier League rivals.

In the meantime, United insist Rooney has been injured with shoulder and leg problems to keep him out of all six of his side's pre-season friendlies so far.
Moyes revealed after United's game in Stockholm on Tuesday that Rooney is a major doubt for Rio Ferdinand's testimonial against Seville tomorrow.

But sources close to the player insist Rooney will be fit enough and is desperate to face the Spanish outfit. The hitman is also keen to face Wigan in Sunday's Community Shield and then line up against the Scots three days later.

But if Moyes refuses to pick Rooney for either of those two United games it means he could go into the England clash against Gordon Strachan's men having failed to play a game since the start of June.

The issue is fast becoming a big headache for Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson.

Starsport understands Hodgson is keen to pick his star striker and wants him involved against the Scots.

Hodgson is expected to name Rooney in his squad today, but it remains to be seen if United's concerns about his struggling fitness will force him to pull out.

Of even greater concern to Hodgson will be Rooney's expected lack of competitive action before England's World Cup qualifiers against Moldova on September 6 and Ukraine on September 10.

England need to win both to boost their hopes of winning Group H ahead of current leaders Montenegro and reaching Brazil 2014.
