Cristiano Ronaldo is ready to extend his contract with Real Madrid.

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly finally ready to extend his contract with Real Madrid.

Cristiano Ronaldo is finally ready to extend his contract with Real Madrid after months of negotiations, according to sports daily AS Tuesday.

Real president Florentino Perez has been claiming for a year now that Ronaldo was about to extend his contract, which expires in 2015.

However, the Portuguese forward has so far declined to do so, amid rumours about him being annoyed at the whites selling Mesut Oezil to Arsenal and signing Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur.

AS claimed Perez is insisting he only paid 91 million euros ($A130.74 million) for Bale rather than 101 million euros, as the British media are claiming, in order to save Ronaldo as the most costly player in history.

Perez paid Manchester United 94 million euros for Ronaldo in 2009.

The Portuguese forward has been the undisputed leader of the Real attack since then, banging in the stunning sum of 147 goals in 138 games.

According to AS, Perez is keen to announce the contract extension before the club's annual assembly upon September 22.

Ronaldo's contract will be lengthy until 2018 - when he will be 33 years old - and his salary increased in order to make him by far the best paid player at Real.
