Ronaldo saves Real Madrid with late penalty at Elche!

After conceding the equalizer in the 92nd minute, Cristiano Ronaldo had the chance to convert a penalty in the 94th after a beautiful obvious judo lock on Pepe. Real Madrid didn't deserve the win.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a double and leads Real Madrid to a win over Elche 2-1. That's all. Because no Merengue should be happy about how the team played this match.

While there were some good moments of positional offense throughout the first half, a recently promoted Elche side were able to completely dominate the whole second half. And that should worry Carlo Ancelotti and the rest of the team, because Atltico Madrid will be Real's next opponent.

The Portugal forward smashed house a free kick to put Real ahead in the 51st minute against a plucky Elche side before substitute Richmond Boakye looked to have secured a point when he headed past Diego Lopez in the 91st minute.

There was more drama to come, however, as Real won a corner and the referee pointed to the penalty spot after Pepe tangled with midfielder Carlos Sanchez in the place.

As the match ticked into its 94th minute, Ronaldo calmly struck the ball into the corner for his sixth goal in six matches this term.

Champions Barca, who beat visiting Real Sociedad 4-1 on Tuesday, and Atletico, 2-1 winners at house to Osasuna, lead upon 18 points with Real in second upon 16.
