Siem de Jong scored in
extra-time to earn Ajax the first piece of silverware of the new Dutch
season as it came from two goals down to edge out AZ 3-2 in the Johan
Cruyff Schaal.
The KNVB Beker holder looked to be on course for victory when Johann Berg Gudmundsson gave it a 52nd-minute lead which was doubled by Aron Johansson in the 68th minute.
But an own goal from Jeffrey Gouweleeuw
a minute later gave Ajax a route back into the match and the Eredivisie
champion made the most of it by adding an equaliser from Kolbeinn
Sigthorsson six minutes later.
Ajax then completed the comeback 13
minutes into extra-time thanks to De Jong's header to secure the Super
Cup for the eighth time in its history.
