Gareth Bale returned to training at Tottenham on Wednesday but his
club is no closer to securing a world-record £85 million move to Real
Madrid.
Daniel Levy, Tottenham’s chairman, has made it abundantly clear that
Bale wants to leave Spurs but the Telegraph report that the player
himself also informed manager Andre Villas-Boas that he wants to leave
White Hart Lane earlier in the week.
Bale is reluctant to submit a formal transfer request, something that
may preclude the Welshman from significant bonuses in his contract.
Excluding the remote possibility of a surprisingly swift conclusion
to the longest transfer saga of 2013, Andre Villas-Boas will have to
make a decision on whether to include Bale in the travelling party vs
Monaco this weekend or not.
Former Spurs manager Glenn Hoddle told reporters: “I would say he’s
not quite ready to go abroad. He’s had a sensational year. For him to
pick the reins up would be nigh-on impossible straight away. I don’t
feel he’s quite ready off the pitch to make that move.”
With Spurs ready to sell Bale, Andre Villas-Boas is closing in on the
signing of prolific Valencia striker Roberto Soldado & it is now
understood a deal is imminent.
