David Silva's injury makes him return to Manchester City!

After picking up a thigh injury while on international duty with Spain, Manchester City winger David Silva has returned to his club and is a doubt for Citys Saturday game at Stoke City. Picking up what the Spanish federation called a light muscle problem, the 27-year-old has left his national team ahead of Tuesdays friendly against Chile in Carouge.

Silva dressed for Spain in Friday victory in Finland but failed to profit off Vicente Del Bosques bench. With Pedro and Cesc Fabregas starting along side David Villa above Spains three-man midfield, the reigning world champions won 2-0 in Helsinki, keeping them three points determined of France in UEFAs Group I.

With October house games against Belarus and Georgia closing Spains qualifying campaign, the European champions are favored to win their group and qualify directly for Brazil 2014.

While Silva failed to win his 77th hat upon Friday, he did pick an injury in training, with his national team describing his release to City as precautionary. From The Guardian:

David Silva has suffered a slight thigh injury while upon World Cup duty with Spain that could rule him out of Manchester Citys trip to Stoke City upon Saturday

Silva has returned to the club to be assessed by medical staff.

The Spanish football federation reported that Silva had a light muscle problem that was revealed by a scan. For precaution, and to avoid complications with this injury, Silva left the training camp, a statement said.

If Silva cant play upon Saturday, the obvious replacement is Samir Nasri  last years starting left winger who has been one of Manuel Pellegrinis first choices off the bench this season.

The absence would add to a mounting list of City fitness concerns, with Vincent Kompany, Matija Natasic, and Micah Richards having already missed significant time with injurie.
