Manuel Pellegrini insists Manchester City must win against their bitter local rivals this Sunday.
Manchester United will visit the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon in what will be Pellegrinis first taste of derby action in England, and he has set his sights upon nothing less than victory.
He said: Its a match of six points. Its very important to win it. Playing at house against Manchester United, we must win. Its more important to win than not to lose.It will also be David Moyes first Manchester derby and he will be desperate not to lose another big game following defeat by Liverpool earlier this month. But Pellegrini believes coping with that pressure is no bad thing.
And he also maintains Moyes past record against City will mean nothing, pointing out that he ended Evertons Champions League hopes during his time at Villarreal.
It is impossible not to be under pressure when replacing Sir Alex Ferguson, he added. Managing Manchester United, or any big team, you are always below pressure but that is a great way to work because you know what you have to do.
He [Moyes] had fine results against Manchester City when he managed Everton, but I had a fine record against Everton when he was manager there.
Pellegrini confirmed Micah Richards and David Silva will be available after returning to training, and captain Vincent Kompnay will play after suffering no sick effects during his comeback in the Champions League earlier this week.
