Alex Ferguson: "Wayne Rooney is back to his best!"

Sir Alex Ferguson says he is delighted to look Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney back to his energetic best.

The 27-year-old forward scored his 200th and 201st Red Devils goals in a 4-2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday night.

In May, Ferguson claimed United had turned down a transfer demand from Rooney in the lead up to their Premier League title success.

The Red Devils rejected two offers from Chelsea over the summer amid uncertainty about the strikers future  but Ferguson is thrilled to see Rooney nearing summit form again.

Wayne was wonderful, Ferguson told MUTV. Im pleased to see that. Hes got his energy back, his purpose to attack.

As a director, Im delighted to see him back to how we remember him.

Ferguson also believes United have key players performing at a tall level, earmarking Antonio Valencias return to form after giving up the cherished number seven shirt.

What is important and key to the team is if Vida (Nemanja Vidic) stays fit. With Van Persie and Rooney, there are forwards that can win games,
Valencias back to his best and its incredible how a shirt number can affect a player, he added.

De Geas maturing, Evra was usual and Carrick is continuing from last season. There were lots of plus points.
