UEFA Europa League: Lazio 1 - Legia Warszawa 0.

Lazio got their Europa League campaign off to the perfect begin as Hernanes gave them a 1-0 win in Group J.

The Seleo international scored the only goal of the game in the second half to set the Rome club off to a winning begin as they beat Legia Warsaw.

The Italian side were on summit in the first half and the hosts had two great chances from successive Hernanes corners. The first saw Edersons shot was charged down in the six-yard crate, then Abdoullay Konkos glancing header flashed inches past the far post.

Lazio looked the more definite of the two sides after the crack as Lorik Cana nodded off target from a corner.

Then the breakthrough came after 53 minutes as Hernanes broke the deadlock when he soared above the crowd to nod in a splendid Keita cross from the left.

After a final few minutes of backs to the wall defending, Lazio held upon for the win to begin their Europa League campaign upon the right foot.
