Arsenal thumped Manchester City in a pre-season friendly in Helsinki on Saturday afternoon.
Goals from Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey
and Olivier Giroud ensured the Gunners finished pre-season in style,
while Alvaro Negredo hit a consolation goal for the Citizens.
Arsene Wenger’s men began quickly, and
Walcott opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a fine chipped
finish after a sublime through ball from Ramsey.
The Gunners then had a fine chance to
double their advantage on the half hour mark, but Joe Hart managed to
push Bacary Sagna’s long-range effort onto the post.
Instead, Ramsey made it 2-0 in the
59th minute, when he played a delightful one-two with Walcott and
rounded Hart before sliding home.
But the north Londoners were not
finished there and Olivier Giroud added their third of the afternoon
three minutes later with a superb clipped finish after Vincent Kompany
made a hash of his clearance.
However, it was City who had the final
word, as Negredo nabbed a consolation goal with a fine finish from just
inside the box after a powerful run from midfield.
