Wayne Rooney is to be allowed to leave Manchester United - it is just a matter of when, not if.
After weeks of speculation about the unsettled striker, a senior insider at Old Trafford has revealed to media
that the England hitman, who played a key role in last night’s 3-2
international defeat of Scotland, has lost the support of senior figures
and will be allowed to move on.
But, as it stands, the 27 years old will not be allowed to join an English rival.
“It would be madness to sell him to an
English club,” commented the senior insider, who is well placed within
the United hierarchy. “We don’t want to help any of our rivals,
therefore a move abroad looks like it’s the only option.”
And he added: “The fans will not
forgive him easily for what has gone on. He will go, of that I am sure,
it’s just a matter of when.”
Until that moment, which could take
six to 12 months, Rooney will be expected to knuckle down under new
boss, David Moyes, and play a key role in supporting the Reds as they
set about defending their Premier League title.
